Assigned Entry #6 The End Is Just the Beginning...

Over the last couple of weeks I have added some blog entries on here of mine and it was a fun experience. Blogs are a great way to express yourself and show your character in a limited way. The biggest thing I did not like about blogging was that I could not express myself in the way I would have liked. I felt that it was extremely limited as to what you could do and that made it hard for me to stay focused because I had so many other things I would have liked to share instead.
The things I have learned specifically are how you can express strong emotions over the internet and you need to be careful what you say. You never know who is going to read it because it is on the internet after all. If you put something on the internet you need to truly mean it and be ready to back it up because that could cause serious back lash for you from a lot of different people. Using word choice is definitely a key element that needs to be watched on blogs so that your readers do not have to question what you mean.
Unfortunately I did not take this blogging experience serious enough because I just lost interest in it and that was difficult for me to handle. I did learn how easy it was to create a blog and they are actually quite helpful, I am thinking of starting one soon to vent my emotions through. I learned how to express myself in ways that I never thought I could and it was definitely a limited experience. This project was creative but with my schedule it was just too much for me to handle and I realize that now.  If there was something I wish I could have done better that would be spending more time on this project.

I hope to pursue and make a genuine blog that I can write in every day after this because I did appreciate having to do it even if my dedication was not there.

Love Yours Neighbors Like Your Siblings

When you look around your community, is there issues you can see around you? There is quite a few common issues that you can see in several well populated cities. You have drunk driving, over populated shelters, stray animals, gang related issues, and even car accidents. These incidents have major effects on everyone throughout the communities and can be improved in several ways.

One major aspect of this is the unawareness that the neighborhoods have about the situations. You can spread awareness in so many ways to the people that they will understand. There is handouts or even events you could hold to involve everyone in. Certain people will have different beliefs then that of the whole community but knowing what is going on with those around them might change their opinions. With these particular types of events you cannot eliminate them completely but you can reduce them greatly just by involving those around you because it effects so many people when it occurs.

A beneficial thing that a lot neighborhoods could do is create a program where people can reach out for when they or someone they are close to needs helps. This will it easier from those who would typically be afraid to get help to get better. It would be with people they know in their neighborhood. These types of programs would increase the tension of the situation especially with those who want to hide that they have a problem but giving them the support they need to get help could be extremely beneficial to them.

We can see issues of all sorts in neighborhoods across the whole country. They can be severe or easy to handle. Our communities have to come together so that we can reach out and find ways to improve our neighborhoods.

Entry #3 The Benefits of Shorter Classes

http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/news/articles/2011/02/22/20110222arizona-state-university-shorter-classes.html
According to this article, it talks about Arizona State University making the shorter seven week classes more accessible to their students. They give great opportunities to the students with being able to finish certain classes in shorter amount of time and for less money. Tuition is getting higher and higher lately at the college level and this definitely helps relieve that issue in several ways. With having these shorter classes it put some restrictions on the students though. There is certain classes at higher difficulty levels that would be nearly impossible to complete in such a short time as well as the fourteen week restriction for some classes. Overall, adding these types of classes to their curriculum is going to be beneficial for the students because it gives them more options in how to handle their educational futures.

When it comes to the rhetoric of these article it is interesting in several ways. It is short, sweet, and to the point about what the benefits of this program are.  The word choice used by the author is easy to understand for students who would be interested in reading about the future of this program. A big bonus that this article is that it is placed in the perfect area for it to have full potential. It is written in the Arizona Republic were plenty of potential students will read it. It is not written as a typical newspaper article which will definitely attract some readers to it. Her use of simple words in the title, and I mean using words that everyone can understand, is fantastically used and will attract readers to this paper, as well. This article definitely makes people think about having the option of this program but it has brought out negative opinions as well.

Some of the comments on this article state that Arizona State University will lose its creditability by offering these classes. Since the university is a place where the teachers not only educate their students but research other experiments as well. I do not believe that it will make the university lose any of its creditability but gain some for the classes will draw in more students and make it more beneficial for them. They also talk about how ASU is a school that is not a well-known school for its education in the public. This may be true in some cases but there is plenty of schools across the country that are not well-known to everyone in the public and ASU is no different.

With these classes, I believe that they will be extremely beneficial for the student’s not only educational but financially as well. They do not remove any creditability from the university and still are a bonus for all. Arizona State University is a popular college within our community and students will continue to enroll with or without these classes based on their own educational dreams and opinions.

Right or Left or Wrong

What is right and wrong? Everyone at one point in their life has asked themselves this question and found it quite difficult to answer. This is one of the hardest questions to answer because a lot of it is based on perception. There is a lot of different aspects that play into this. For example, religion and beliefs would be a big deciding factor on what you believe is right or wrong. The best way to think of this question is to trust your gut because most of the time deep down you know what is right for you.

When it comes to deciding what is right and wrong for me there is a lot of questions that I ask myself. What would my mother think if I did that? What would my grandpa think if I did that? What are the possible outcomes of this? I know it seems like a never ending cycle of questions for me but it is my thought process that ultimately helps me make the best decisions for me. Ultimately, it has been proven for not only me but people through the generations that their beliefs are a big factor to their life decisions. My mother every day empowers me to be a better person and make better decisions even if she is not still here with me. The gut feelings most individuals get is a pretty good sign that personally they do not approve of what they are doing. They feel like it is wrong of them to be doing that. There is no right or wrong answer to this, but choosing one over the other just might make you happier in the end.

My perception of right and wrong may be completely different from those around me, but I know I am a good hearted person and that I can truly trust my gut to help me get there.

Entry #2 Prolife VS. Prochoice

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/31/us/arizona-judge-upholds-20-week-limit-on-abortions.html?ref=abortion&_r=0

Abortion. This word has brought about a million different opinions across not only the country but the world. Some religions view it as murderous and some of view it as an acceptable loss. It is a tough decision that many have had to face before and the answer does not come easily. When facing this choice it could haunt you for the rest of your life, so think about it hard and long before getting in over your head. Abortion is one of the most controversial topics in the country today, and a lot of people have firm beliefs on it. With reading this article, it influenced my opinion in a way that is not so direct but it did have a huge effect even if they did not state their opinion on it.

These authors write in a manner that makes their article easy to understand and to connect with. It is mostly about how this ban would affect the women of this country. They state that across the country women would be forced to make this decision, which is an extremely tough one, way earlier then they have previously had to. If you look at the bigger picture, you can clearly see that they are trying to get us to protest or dislike that this law. They show that women should have the choice to have abortion or not in the full time they should be allowed without actually stating that. The authors using their writing skills extremely well to prove their point without stating it with using rhetoric to their full advantage.

I believe that this article is fantastically written and properly explains most of the information but it is not placed properly to have the most impact. This article is about a law being passed in Arizona but is being written in the New York Times. It is understandable that it was thought of as an idea in New York because that is where the decision making was occurring but it will make their readers lose interests. They would be more interested in reading something that connects to them and their neighborhood not something that is happening thousands of miles away from them.

Overall, I think that with the way this article is written does nothing for the creditability of the author. It is just stating basic facts about the ban and it is not showing any true character within it. There clearly is this aspect of it that showing what they want their readers to leave with and it is done in a thoughtful manner but it does not add to the articles effectiveness. Passion comes flowing out through the writer’s word choice and I truly appreciate the feeling that reading this article gave me. It would be a great thing for me to recommend to others to read.

Worth It's Weight in Gold

What is the most important thing in your life? I bet when you read this question an answer pops into your head immediately just like one does for me. Everyone in the world tends to answer this question differently, it is based completely on past experiences and emotions. Although my answer does not fit my past experiences, it does fit my beliefs. No matter what happens in my life I know that these people will always have my back and be there for me. I know that they will love me unconditionally no matter what we will all go through, and that has been a lot. If you could not tell by now, my answer is my family. There is so many people out there that would say this is a cliché on my part but in all honesty I have no idea where I would be without them for so many reasons.

When I was three years old, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and it gave my family quite a scare. Through all the support my family gave each other we were able to manage pass that sticky situation but we were not out of the woods yet. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer about the same time and she was not as lucky as I was. Our family held together as well as you could hope for in that situation. After a long three year battle, my mother passed away and that made me realize how lucky I was. I not only had her as my mother but I had three other mothers. That was my grandmother and my two aunts. They stepped into the mother position in my life when they truly did not have to. It made me realize that our family was stronger than I had previously thought. I knew I could trust these people with my life or talk to them about anything and that made me ecstatic.

The most important aspect of our family is communication and sometimes we are not entirely the efficient at this. Just like every other family out there we are not perfect but we try our best to stick together. There is times when we will lose touch with each other and go for days not talking to each other. We may not talk to each other but we still know that the other is there for you. You could pick up the phone when something is wrong and we would all come running. Those goofy and crazy loud families you here about definitely fits the description of our family perfectly sometimes but it is what makes us so great. Our family continues to grow stronger and stronger each day with the craziness of our lives but you know we work through them together. The most entertaining thing about our family is the fun and exciting phone calls you could get at five o’clock in the morning. I know I definitely have some fun stories. No matter how crazy and random our phone calls are, the best thing is that we are always talking. Families like this are hard to find and I would not replace mine for anything in the world.

Craziness seems to be a basic personality for most families but I believe it is an aspect that makes my family a little more unique compared to others. It truly brings us closer together then we ever believe it could. Families may seem like an easy thing to talk about because they are a common thing across the nation but more than half the time they are truly worth their weight in gold. Everyone has their demons in their pass just like we do but we do not let that separate us. We stick together through the bad times and good times. No matter what happens between us all, we will forever be as thick as thieves.

Entry #1 Do not Believe Everything you Read

Everyone has heard of the internet before and knows that it comes with several fascinating features and aspects. You can interact with people around the world in thousands of different ways and blogs just happen to be one of those ways. Blogs are websites where people can express their opinions in creative ways so that the world can see them. There is several different types of blogs such as professional and personal. They both have their good and bad benefits but since everyone judges things in their own creative and fascinating ways you never know what will intrigue them. I am not one who can professionally judge anything based on the fact that I have no expertise, I can only tell you what I personally find intriguing or not.

I have recently figured out that I have an obsession with blogs to a point that it is almost humorous. Reading blogs in my spare time has sort of become my favorite past time. They are interesting and intriguing in so many ways, I can never get enough of them. My opinion of blogs may be rare among my generation but I find blogs practical and useful. I believe that they are beneficial to most readers but a huge set back of blogs is that they are not always reviewed by others which can make them more biased then other resources. In my opinion blogs can be helpful but I would not pick them as my first choice due to the lack of expertise that comes with most blogs. Even though most would argue with my opinions because it sounds like I am biased myself but in all honesty the truth behind reviewing blogs itself is biased. I tend to like blogs that are most based on knowledge and efficiently use all possibilities to their full advantages and I can definitely prove this theory through my knowledge.

Google has a well-known reputation for being a source of information and their blog is no exception, it is full of juicy tidbits that reach the personalities of all its readers. The simplicity of Google’s blog is stunning and is to comprehend. Its positive benefits are that the bloggers use relatable terminology and pictures to full efficiency. A neutral aspect of the blog is that it has a less colorful background which makes you realize that they want you focused on the information not the blog itself. The graphs and videos that are strategically placed throughout the blog make it more appealing and easier to stay focused on the data. Overall, in my personal opinion Google does a fantastic job maintaining their blogs with several beneficial aspects involved thoroughly through the whole project.

Along with Google, another blog that I have found appeasing to look at is EconBrowser. A big plus in my book is that one of the first things you see when you launch the website is the credentials of the authors. It gives the website a little more creditability to its readers. You can first see the information in the colorful side bars, which I feel gives the website a little bit of a homely feeling. The titles of the entries makes it very clear that this blog is a professional blog which is easy to understand based on the authors. That makes it a little easier to understand what the authors purpose for writing the blog is. As you read through the beginning page of the website you can see that it is split up into little tidbits of what the full entries are which I believe makes it a lot easier to navigate this page. The writing in this blog is sometimes hard to understand but they make up for it with graphs and charts, which makes it easier to comprehend for us as readers. Overall, this website does a great job being user friendly and an easy read.

Unfortunately, with all good things there comes the bad. Not every single blog you look at is going to be perfect because no one out there is perfect. This next blog just left me a little confused and baffled at the end of it. It is a blog that goes by the name of Videogum and it is supposed to be a place that reviews movies, viral videos, and television shows. One thing that I did actually love about this website was the colorful background and surroundings, it gives it that special touch that makes you want to read it. Even with the colors and shocking features there to grab your attention, the information seems to bounce from topic to topic. It says it will report on movies, viral videos, and television. Which makes you believe it will be about shows or movies but it is mostly about the actors or actresses. Overall, this page was very appeasing to look at but the writing I believe could be pulled a little more together.

There is several different types of blogs out there and this is clearly evident. No matter what everyone believes, not everything on the internet is one hundred percent perfect. We need to realize that so that we are not played or tricked by incorrect writers out there. Checking your knowledge against other sources always seems to be the best road to follow. Another huge thing to keep in mind is that everything is judged through the reader’s perspective and you can never know how they will react to anything you have written. Your writing can be perceived as both good and bad. With writing on the internet, just remember the world can see your work and make sure you are ready to accept any consequences that come with that because you never know who is looking.

Just Beautiful Me

Hi there, my name is Randi Jeanne Todd. I have an outrageous thirst for knowledge and I can never get enough.  My passion is and always will be books, music, and reading everything in sight. Butterflies will continue to always bring me happiness, I cannot help but smile every time I see one. The types of music I enjoy listening to is anything up beat because it matches my crazy personality. In my spare time, I love to swim and spend time with my family they are my whole world.

My family has helped me through so many different stages of life and supporting me every step of the way. The most recent step would be enrolling myself in college and now I am a current freshmen at Glendale Community College. Future plans for me are still a little jumbled due to the fact that I have no idea what I want to be. My dream job would be to be an elementary school teacher because I love children but you know not everything always works out.

I know though that my family will support me no matter what I decide to do because through thick and thin my family will always be there for me.  My number one priority is school and family, nothing will ever bring me more passion in life than having their smiling faces in my life.
