Entry #2 Prolife VS. Prochoice

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/31/us/arizona-judge-upholds-20-week-limit-on-abortions.html?ref=abortion&_r=0

Abortion. This word has brought about a million different opinions across not only the country but the world. Some religions view it as murderous and some of view it as an acceptable loss. It is a tough decision that many have had to face before and the answer does not come easily. When facing this choice it could haunt you for the rest of your life, so think about it hard and long before getting in over your head. Abortion is one of the most controversial topics in the country today, and a lot of people have firm beliefs on it. With reading this article, it influenced my opinion in a way that is not so direct but it did have a huge effect even if they did not state their opinion on it.

These authors write in a manner that makes their article easy to understand and to connect with. It is mostly about how this ban would affect the women of this country. They state that across the country women would be forced to make this decision, which is an extremely tough one, way earlier then they have previously had to. If you look at the bigger picture, you can clearly see that they are trying to get us to protest or dislike that this law. They show that women should have the choice to have abortion or not in the full time they should be allowed without actually stating that. The authors using their writing skills extremely well to prove their point without stating it with using rhetoric to their full advantage.

I believe that this article is fantastically written and properly explains most of the information but it is not placed properly to have the most impact. This article is about a law being passed in Arizona but is being written in the New York Times. It is understandable that it was thought of as an idea in New York because that is where the decision making was occurring but it will make their readers lose interests. They would be more interested in reading something that connects to them and their neighborhood not something that is happening thousands of miles away from them.

Overall, I think that with the way this article is written does nothing for the creditability of the author. It is just stating basic facts about the ban and it is not showing any true character within it. There clearly is this aspect of it that showing what they want their readers to leave with and it is done in a thoughtful manner but it does not add to the articles effectiveness. Passion comes flowing out through the writer’s word choice and I truly appreciate the feeling that reading this article gave me. It would be a great thing for me to recommend to others to read.

  1. I think that abortion is a choice and people shouldn't try to make a person feel bad about their choice they're making. There are many reasons to getting a abortion and should be their own personal decision. Good Post.
